In fact, I never made it on that stinkin plane. When we woke up in Lubbock on Thursday morning the weather was yuck. Rainy and cold, but by the time we got in the car to head to the airport it was sleeting and freezing the roads.
Our flights were cancelled.
They couldn't guarantee another one out until Saturday.
By Saturday we would only have ONE full day in California.
We called DFW to get a flight.
NOTHING.
We took that as a sign that our plane might possibly crash into the mountains of CO and made the best out of a really crumby situation.
We went to the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine for our trip.
While there are no pictures of Napa, and wine tours, and the Golden Gate Bridge or the awesome Macy's downtown I heard so much about,
there are LOTS of pictures of a family having a ton of fun just being together.
With no kids, of course!;)
Pretty much every picture I have was of us eating.
That must be why I gained 5 lbs in the 5 days we were gone.
Don't worry.I have totally refocused!!:)(I'll tell you all about the new diet I've started later. Let's just say...I'M GONNA STARVE!!!!!!) :)
I took advantage of every second Jason and I had on this trip. Busy season has started and he will be MIA until April 15th.
*note the dark circles under my eyes*
Jason hates having his picture made. We were at a funeral a few weeks ago of a close family friend and they did a slide show. There was picture after picture of Charles with his family and friends.
That's when it hit me.
I seriously only have maybe 10 pictures of Jason. Mostly with a child. Most of them involving a birth of a child.
Maybe 3 or 4 of just Jason and I.
Not counting wedding pictures, of course.
So, he promised me he would take any picture I wanted the entire time we were gone.
YEAH!
Pictures of my hubby!:)
Kenneth(Jason's dad), Craig(Jason's brother), and Jason
*note puffy circles under eyes*
Jason's parents love to dance. Very sweet!
A self portrait very late one night. Nice.
*puffy circles under eyes, AGAIN*
My SIL's Kimberly and Kenni, and Jason's mom.
*puffy circles*
And the reason for the celebrating. Kenneth!
I cannot tell you how thankful I am for this man. My dad left when I was 21yo and I basically haven't had more than a handful of words with him in the last 12 years. (There is a possibility my dad is reading this so if he is, I must add that he has made a move to rekindle or father/daughter relationship.) I must also add that when he left, he LEFT. And when he did Kenneth took me in and has never treated me any different than his own daughter. Kenneth is a shining example of what a daddy should be. He is funny, super intelligent, kind, extremely literal:), and a fantastic example of a man for my sons and my sweetie Miss KENna Mae is named after him. I am so blessed to have married into such a wonderful family.
**Super huge puffy circles**
Well, he said I could take any picture! I refrained from a few!!:)
We had a great trip even though it wasn't as eventful and scenic as we planned.
The Garlord is a fabulous hotel and we only left 4 times, once for food, twice for a movie, and once for shopping!:)
***While at the hotel I started looking at these pictures and noticing the horrible puffy circles under my eyes. What are those? Where are they coming from?
I pretty much whined about it every time I looked at a picture with me in it! I'm hoping the fact that over the last week and a half I have come down with bronchitis, strep throat, and a sinus infection. I started coughing while at the Gaylord and by the time we got home I was SICK, SICK, SICK!!
THAT'S the reason for the hideous circles and funky looking eyes.
Or am I getting old enough to worry about these things.
I was sick.
Right?
RIGHT!
It cannot mean that I need eye cream.
Already?
I bought some anyway.
Just in case.

Take lots of pictures girl, Kyle said to me after that very funeral, thank you for taking all the goofy pictures you do. Love the pics and glad you got to get away.
Looks like fun!!!! And...I think you look BEAUTIFUL in all those pics!!!
Love the pics!! Krista & you FAVOR so much in the one with you by yourself that your hair isn't straightened! I had to look twice to make sure it was you! lol I'm glad ya'll still had a good time even though your plans got changed!!
I hate that your trip to SanFran didn't make, but I would have taken it as a sign, also (I'm wishy-washy like that!). The Gaylord Texan is absolutely beautiful and you're right, you don't have to leave for anything.
I think you are absolutely beautiful and I promise I didn't notice any dark circles. I have them, though & know what you mean by noticing them and worrying....
I often think about the picture thing, too. I don't have many of myself or my husband or the two of us together. I need to get busy with that, too--thanks for reminding me.
I was visiting with Monica Smart (Childressite) a few weekends ago and we started talking about blogs. I asked if she knew you and she said yes. She also mentioned that if y'all ever get together in Seymour, maybe we can "meet" in person. I would like that!
I'm so sorry your trip to San Francisco didn't work out but am glad you had a good time at the Gaylord! I really enjoyed doing the slide show for Charles' funeral. I am so glad now that we took all those great pictures through the years! I'm glad you're taking more pictures now :)
