HELP!!! I'M NEED BLOGGER FOR DUMMIES!!

OK. I was reading a blog today where a girl was searching through her site meter at the referrals and found a CREEPY, PERVERT that had posted her picture and her personal information for the "reading pleasure" of other perverts. WITH A LINK TO HER BLOG!! It really kinda freaks me out. There really are some weird people out there!

I have a site meter on my blog, but the information it gives me is so vague that I can't tell up from down. I have heard that you can tell who hits your site through Google searches and stuff and I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO READ THE SITE METER INFORMATION!!! HELP ME SITE METER GENIUS'! Teach me how to use my site meter!!

When you find out, let me know.
Look at mine....on the location tab......there are some crazy countries listed on there where I am sure that I know no one! It does kind of freak me out a little, too.

I am another one who would like to find out how to properly read the info... I can see how they FOUND my site, but can't figure out WHO they are. I can also see if they stayed there for a long time or not, but that is about all I have figured out so far. When you figure it all out, do a post on it!!!

Click on your site meter. Log into site meter.com. On the left you will see different options. The one labeled referrals is where you see how people came to your blog. For example, someone googled rebellious things to do and found my blog... lol!You can also see what countries your readers are from! It's all kindof cool. I'm not sure how she knows someone posted her pic, though unless she just followed all the 'outclicks' (another option) or she has her blog set up to show her when someone sends an email of her post or something... hmmmm... Anyway, hope this helps!

I use site meter and love it. It tells me where people come from, how long they stay and what they look at. It'll also tell you where people come from (what city). Yes, there are time when people are seaching for bad stuff and google or yahoo sends them to your site. For example, I get weird searches where people are seaching for weird spanking stuff and because I did a post on spanking my kids Google sends tells them I might have what they are looking for. OR I did a post one time on "Be Porn Free" and I get lots of hits for people looking for "Free Porn." They all move on when they see I'm not what they are looking for.

That's doesn't mean that some one has linked you to that kind of stuff. Most people looking for bad stuff will go to your site and move on once they realize you don't have what they are looking for.

I think the stories like the one you mentioned are really few and far between. I have nearly 5000 visitors a week on my blog ... and I feel pretty safe.

Just my opinion though.
