So, if you have never seen Elf on the Shelf before, here's how it works. Every night when the kids go to bed, Scout flies to the N.P. and reports everything he has seen that day to Santa. Good things included! Then, when the kids wake up the next morning, Scout has landed and is hiding in a new spot somewhere in the house!! He comes with a super cute book that explains everything! SO FUN!
Here are a few pics of the little dude!

I have a hunch that my big kids are secretly doubting the existence of Santa this year. It makes me want to cry every time I think about it. Nothing has been said or done, of course, because they know if they don't believe, they don't receive! I was hoping the elf would give them a little umph this year with regards to their disbelief. I think I was wrong. They don't get too pumped up about it...dang!! I just hope they at least pretend they believe FOREVER!!
Now, Case and Kenna Mae, on the other hand, LOVE Scout. They wake up every morning and search for Scout and are SO EXCITED when they find him. It is so much fun for them!
All that to say, we have a new tradition in the Horton house! And on Christmas morning Scout will be gone until his return the first day of December, 2009!
What is your favorite tradition??

I wish I would have known about Scout when my babies were young. I think they may not go for it now being 13 & 17.....Great idea. Have fun with it. I was heart broken when my boys asked me if I was Santa..........
Very Very Cute! I would buy Scout if I had kids...right now, I just don't think Lacye or Jordan would care!
Great idea! I think Tanner is doubting too, but we told him as long as he believes he will receive. Plus, he has to keep the act up for his little sister.
So cute! The company that creates the Elf on a Shelf is based in the town where I live...Kennesaw, GA! I was looking into getting one for a friend and found that out:)
I just may have to get one now!
I love "Scout"!! I will be getting one for us next year~ my kids are at just the right age!! :)
such a cute idea....
that is the cutest thing I have ever heard about....I will have to remember that next year....I love it....love it...have a great holiday...love ya...steph
cute idea....may have to try that around here too....for now, all believe!! It has been questioned, but we say that the spirit of Santa is alive and well!
Fave tradition......letting the kids throw gobs of glitter on the roof so Santa wont miss the house AND leaving carrots out for the reindeer!
We must be reading the same blogs because I've seen Scout everywhere, too! Maybe I should get one to hide around the house for Richard! Ha! My favorite Christmas tradition is going to Christmas Eve church in Uvalde. We sing Silent Night and light candles every year as we walk around the courtyard of the church. I cry everytime! I also love my tradition of watching A White Christmas while I decorate the tree!
