Mother's Day
Mother's Day was a complete success in my book! My sweet little husband is very good at making the most out of every holiday. He loves to have a good reason to spend a little money, and really, he's very good at the "gift thing"! He started off by waking me up a little early on Friday and telling me he was taking the day off!! What? MY husband taking the day off? Remember..we own our own business and when he's not there...no moola! That alone was a great mother's day gift. He then proceeded to tell me that he had gotten a babysitter for the day and they were also picking up our older 2 from school! A day alone with my husband? Man, we haven't done that in months...I actually can't remember the last time! On with the story, we took off like a bunch of crazy kids to Amarillo to spend the day. Sooo much fun. Then he took me to Lowes and Home Depot and bought EVERYTHING I have been wanting to redo my bathroom! Tile, vanity, paint...I know some of you may be thinking I got rooked but believe me when I tell you........HOORAY! I could hardly contain myself. Oh, but it doesn't end there!! After a great lunch at Ruby Tequila's, a fun ride home with the hubs, and a couple of winning ballgames with the two older kiddo's, the day came to an end. To my surprise it all started up again the next morning!!! He took me all over town buying flowers and plants to redo my fountain in the back yard!! I've been wanting to do that for months! Here are a couple of pictures. There is a before and after! NOTE: yes, the pond does look more like a tank with that murky, muddy, water.....more later!

Isn't is pretty?! And now, the rest of the story! When Jason and I finished up we both went in to get ready for a party that evening. When the sitter got here, I went out to show her our masterpiece and the soaker hose had gotten possessed and exploded. The ENTIRE pond was floating. Even the black plastic . I'm not exaggerating, FLOATING! My poor, beautiful, flowers and plants(I especially love the banana plants in the back) were uprooted and floating upright. After a few tears and reapplication of mascara, we went on to our party. There really wasn't much we could do until it soaked up a bit. The Lord was especially good to me that evening because when we got home it was almost completely soaked in. Nothing a few minutes of dirt and damage control couldn't fix. We had to replant a few of the flowers, but all is well. Last night Jason fixed me a cosmo and we sat on the patio in the dark relaxing by the fountain. I think I'm in love all over again.
Of course, I couldn't leave you without a story from our little nut! He has been in rare form lately. I think I could write a book. This story is particularly funny. I'm not so sure it will sound as funny on "blog" as it does in person. It was the tone of his voice that made me almost pee in my pants...along with everyone else standing around. OK. A couple of weeks ago Jason's Aunt Gretta passed away. Case was VERY confused about the whole thing and so on the way to the visitation we were explaining to him how Aunt Gretta is in heaven with God and PAPA. That God had come and taken her to heaven. When we got to the funeral home Case asked his daddy "When's God commin' to get Aunt Gretta...I haven't seen him in 3 years!" We all laughed and thought he was so funny and cute! Then, here comes the funny part, at the funeral, we were walking past the casket and being that Case thought Aunt Gretta was in Heaven, he gasp really big, stopped the entire line, and with his mouth wide open he pointed to the casket and said..."momma, it's Aunt Gretta!" in kindof a whisper with his eyes REALLY big!! It never really crossed my mind that he thought ALL of Aunt Gretta was gone to heaven. He thought she must have been left. He was sooo concerned. Literal little guy! Oh, and cousin Cash(6) wanted to know how in the world they got her dressed! And Cousin Jack(5) was a little confused that she was wearing the same dress for the visitation and the funeral! What kind of woman wears the same dress two days in a row? These little boys can make any situation just a little bit "lighter"! We are so blessed.
I'll post more on the poor little eldest children in this family tomorrow. My hands and fingers are tired of typing!
